HUMAN MOBILITY IN THE FACE OF THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY IN THE INTER-AMERICAN HUMAN RIGHTS SYSTEM:

Abstract

The objective of this paper was to synthesize the development of the inter-American human rights system regarding the rights of people in situations of human mobility who have been displaced by the effects of the climate emergency.  From a methodology of qualitative approach, documentary design, and synthetic method, it can be deduced that, despite the fact that international refugee law stipulates an expanded definition of refuge, people who move for climate reasons are not classified as persons under international protection, so it is necessary to articulate a status of climate refugee, since migratory flows for environmental reasons continue to increase in the Latin American region.
